Signs of Spring

Well, according to biodynamic and Celtic lore, today is the beginning of spring in temperate climes. Some refer to it as a cross-quarter day -- midway between a solstice and equinox. Best to be thinking of garden designs. Our grain sprouts are holding their own. Carrots ready to be harvested.

Robbie Burns Night: A Glorious Toast to the Haggis

Last night we Bellingham Scottish Country Dancers performed at a Robbie Burns supper. The main event , though, was around the celebration of the small but nutrient-dense Haggis. Here is its ode (actually, “Address”): “Oh glorious sight,” “Fair is your honest happy face, Great chieftain of the pudding race,” “…take note of the strong Haggis fed…”
